Bristol SE5

A common type of aircraft used in WW1 by the Royal Flying Corps. Most planes of that era were open cockpit biplanes, seemingly held together with wire and glue, but they performed well for the most part and are the predecessors of todays supersonic fighter jets. Originally not equipped with armament since they were deemed only useful for observation work, the pilots were soon shooting at the enemy with pistols, and dropping bombs by hand from the rear cockpit!
